As if it's not bad enough that Liam began the first 3 days of his life with gas that smelled like toxic waste, now his umbilical cord stump stinks like rotting flesh! I guess that's exactly what it is, but seriously, a stench that I have only smelled on rotting, borderline-gangrenous toes in the ER is definitely NOT an odor that I want radiating from my otherwise sweet newborn. I hope this dang stump falls off ASAP because I'm tired of trying to hold my breath during his diaper changes! I never would have imagined that the newest love of my life would make me wish I didn't have a sense of smell. Lucky for him, I'm able to push through the smells and love my poor, stinky baby boy anyway (like only a mother could)!
